Why we hate Mondays: Deep insights on it.

New year brings with it new hope, new determination, new resolutions, new self promises, new commitment, and self introspection for designing goals for future.

History is witness, whether we are in job or still studying we hate Mondays and this is true in most of the cases.Have you ever introspected why is that so. Let me help you by providing insights into this question.

It can be due to many reasons listed below.

(1). You have selected a profession that you don't like.
(2). You are good in your professional duties but still you don't like them.
(3). Most important. for earning bread and butter you are doing your job and if you are given alternative source of income you will definitely quit your job.

There can be other reasons too, but I perceive above points as major reasons contributing to your inefficiencies at work.

Remember, in your school days when most of the students opted for careers that paid professionals very well you opted the same. So, you oriented your choices based on money that a career provided. By this mere act student makes himself comfortable for short term but makes his life confusing in long term.

For instance, back in Y2K, when IT industry was flourishing, there was huge demand of engineers, irrespective of their stream of study, there was a influx of engineering institutes, colleges, and universities. Hence, the competition for engineering entrance exams rose sharply. Most of the students made their minds to follow the common path of engineering and then getting placed since the colleges came up with beautiful placement figures. And there developed a supply chain of coaching institutes for exams, engineering colleges with hefty fees and poor course structure, and placement agencies guiding students on soft skills. However, students never realized what blunder they have committed by following this path. For instance, if a student is interested in becoming a chemical engineer due to his love for the subject and he doesn't get an admit in any of the IIT's, he would have become a software engineer.

Now those who are reading this article may point out that if a student did chemical engineering and landed up in a software job then it is not his fault but the fault of government for not creating enough jobs for chemical engineers. But if you heard of the word globalization, you might have never asked this doubt.

When you dream of something you try to achieve it irrespective of geography, money, and comfort it gives. So, in the above example if a chemical engineer doesn't have enough opportunity in India, he should have researched the opportunities worldwide and then followed the path to attain it.

Believe me. And if you don't then search some individual in any profession who led his career path based on his choices and not chances, he or she will let you know about how much they love Mondays.

Coming on the second point of weighing the money with the chosen career, I would like to highlight only one aspect of life and that is MENTAL SATISFACTION. As a student, you may say that money will provide mental satisfaction, but I would like to challenge you on this since in long run when you introspect about what you are doing even if you have sufficient money you will regret about your choices.

Mental satisfaction comes from the daily tasks you do. You spend most of the time in your jobs and organizations. Compensation day is only one day in a month. However, the daily tasks that you are doing makes or breaks your satisfaction.

So, if you want to evaluate whether you are in right career, then see whether you wait for your salary day or continue your daily tasks with true enthusiasm since you love what you do.

Are you confused whether to take arts or not?

Aiming to highlight students about career options relevant to arts stream, I will go into details about every option available to the students opting arts stream in class 11. Art is an imperative subject and also creative in all aspects.  Also, this stream brings out students’ ideas and creativity. Some of the subjects offered in arts stream are English, Political Science, History, Economics, Geography, Maths, Psychology, Painting, Physical Education, Multi media.

One question should arise in everyone’s mind that why an arts student often lands up in a job of an investment banker or a risk manager, when they are far related to each other. In historical times, most of the students who took art stream believed in their creativity and opted for the stream solely because of their interests. However, recently due to dearth of opportunities and jobs being offered to the arts students, students rarely take arts as a stream. Also, most of the schools don’t offer arts stream. Humanities and arts as a stream of choice have gone down in popularities due to lack of opportunities. But students do a huge blunder while evaluating the streams; they are short sighted when they evaluate the opportunities linked to the different streams. And yes if one evaluates the opportunities linked to arts down the line 2-3 years after graduating from college, they are minimal. Nevertheless, the opportunities for an arts student are more than those for any other stream student.
The short sightedness of students is the main reason for students deciding career choices solely based on present career opportunities. I am aware of people whose career path has been as shown below.

Science stream->B.Tech->Top engineer job-> Indian administrative services officer.

Now the problem with the above career path is the delay in identifying   what you want to do in life. And of course, the years wasted in the mid career options, which were not the target or perhaps the career choice of the student. Now, the problem with the above career path is that we don’t understand why one should study engineering and work as an engineer in one of the top public sector undertakings to become an IAS officer. Furthermore, we know that arts stream would have been more beneficial than a course in engineering to become an IAS officer.

And if one survey associates working in different sectors and their choices in class 11, one will find huge disparities between choices the associates made in class 11 and the jobs they are doing. Hence, one should focus on his/her areas of interests and the opportunities available in long term for those fields while choosing which stream to take. Further, it goes without saying that a good arts student can contribute more to a job relevant to arts than a science student or perhaps a commerce student.

I am going to list few opportunities that can be of use for students oriented towards taking arts streams. Depending upon the individual interests and hobbies there can be many opportunities starting from journalism, retail industry, fashion designing and the likes. For instance, if one has a flair for writing and enjoys researching and writing on different topics, one can become a content writer. Also, if one loves animal right from childhood and want to spend entire life surrounded by animals, one can become a wildlife photographer, a forest official, and the likes.

Lastly, I cannot go into minute details of individual arts career for which enough information is available on the internet. However, if anyone wants to know how to relate one’s interest areas to a good career by taking appropriate career options and streams, you can write me @ chotu86.saurabh@gmail.com

Start early to be first !

Children at early stages of their lives may follow their seniors or perhaps their peers to be successful. And when they are somewhat intelligent enough to decide on their careers, they consult people whom they know. So, while doing the research, they find that most careers are captured by engineers. Furthermore, they are in an impression that a degree in engineering can lead anyone anywhere in this world. But they are mistaken by thinking this way. Most of the engineering graduates land up in engineering colleges due to peer pressure and high paying software jobs and not due to their interest in pursuing engineering degrees.

Since we are aware that there is dearth of core engineering jobs in mechanical, electrical, electronics, and chemical, there is no point opting for such courses in the first place, let alone get an engineering degree. So, though first and foremost a person has to research about his needs, wants, and desires, thorough research has to be done to check the opportunities available for the pursued interest. However, the less opportunity in a specific stream shouldn't restrict a person to pursue an area of interest. For instance, a person taking a mechatronics course due to his/her interest shouldn't think that there are low number of jobs in India in that stream, instead should think of pursuing a higher degree or may be a PHD in the area of interest.

For a successful career one should perform a SWOT analysis, a lingo used in MBA courses. SWOT analysis is a deep analysis of S-strengths, W-weaknesses, O-opportunities, T-threat. One should not take a path which only favors opportunities as done by many students currently in India. This can have major impact in any industry. For instance, back in 1990’s, when most I.T. firms were recruiting engineering graduates as there was major boom in the industry, students started to think that I.T. was a place to start the career. However, now the industry has peaked; graduates are not getting desired packages, they are thinking of switching their careers after working for 4-5 years; some go for MBA courses out of the blue. As a result, some are frustrated in their mid careers, others do some research, which they should have done in the first place when they opted for engineering course.

Since I have been one of the students who are doing research in the mid career, I think being in this situation I can guide students opting for different types of careers and are in dilemma. Hence, this blog would be helpful for students just passed their 10th board exams and are confused about which stream they should take to have a career of their choice and the career by which they would earn their living.

Following will be series of articles for different streams and careers. Also, for individual query related to one’s career, please mail me @ chotu86.saurabh@gmail.com. And please allow me 1-2 business days to respond to the query.

Ramesh says "Every-time I hear the word Steel I think of SAIL" yes yes its the same "Steel authority of India Limited" ya thats true it hold a major share in steel sector. But let me introduce Indian Steel Industry to you first.

We should say thanks to "TATA" as Jamshetji brought a revolution in Indian Steel industry. The company name was TISCO-> TATA Iron and steel company limited shortly named as TATA steel.
It was only TISCO which did many things for employees which were later followed by other companies such as Provident fund scheme in 1920 which later became an act in 1952.Leave with pay was implemented very early. And while Britain was ongoing with 12 hours a day work TATA implemented 8 hours a day work.

If you want to enter this sector in India remember this is the dream company for you.Since its independence, India has experienced steady growth in the steel industry, thanks in part to the successive governments that have supported the industry and pushed for its robust development. After Independence another major S.A.I.L came into picture.

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is the leading steel-making company in India. It is a fully integrated iron and steel maker, producing both basic and special steels for domestic construction, engineering, power, railway, automotive and defence industries and for sale in export markets. SAIL is also among the four Maharatnas of the country's Central Public Sector Enterprises.

Third major in the race is VIZAG steel

Now the entry procedure for these cos. are as follows:

Actuaries,Do I like it???

Let me first introduce the subject to you what does Actuarial Science actually means else it would be very hard to follow the topic and you will lead to a disaster full career if not followed properly.Actuaril Science is the study that applies "mathematical" and "statistical" aptitudes to assess risks in "Insurance and Finance" industries.History says the need for actuaries aroused first in Insurance sector with the increase in demand for long-term insurance coverages such as burial, life insurance and annuities. With the early 20th century came the boom in pension and healthcare schemes which demanded the study to analyze how the money should be handled to pay future benefits such as annuities and death benefits to the scheme holder. So,in short actuaries were needed to postulate the data in the form so that all money is handled and invested so as to pay whatever a scheme holder is entitled to.With a knowledge of basic "maths" and "stats" which is popularly known as "M N S" in this field a person can make a data which will give a present value of future sum.The study can also be applied to other forms of insurance such as "Property,Casuality,Liability and General" Insurance.Similary the study is also applied to finance to assess financial risks and to forecast the future of industry in terms of the revenue and costs. We know that there are very less number of domains that are not affected by technology and yes actuaries is also afftected by the technology in the way that previously actuaries professionals used to prepare data sheets, tables and used to analyze so much of data which demanded so much of time and calculations that were cumbersome, but with the advent and boom in computers actuaries are now actually feeling easy in their work. From pencil-paper to punchcards to high speed devices such as computers the modelling and forecasting abilities of the actuary has grown exponentially and the actuaries needed to adjust to the new world to revolutionize this field.

Other subjects needed are
1.Programming languages
2.Finance
3.economics
4.Probability

So those people interested in these domains and find themseleves very much involved in above subjects then for you guyzz actuaries is the place to be in future.

Mom Dad wat to do now after class 12

Dear all,

I am back hope I have instigated something in u to pursue what u like.My mere desire is that everyone abandon what they are doing and they should Imbibe the courage in them to pursue what they like. Not caring for the money or the returns from a particular career one should opt for a career which suits one interest.I have interacted with many students of high school. The thing they lack is that they dont know what they are interested in as they are unaware because most of the outside world is obscure.First of all advice to all parents that if you want your child to be oriented towards your side of interest then standard 1-5 is the most crucial time in which children get influenced by their siblings, parents, relatives and peers. You have to make sure that your child is having good environment to ensure that he will prosper later on in life.As learning never ends and its never too late or early to get deviated to what you like there is no age no bar for it.We have seen many engineers turned managers, managers turned writers, doctor turned singers. So its the feeling inside you that guides to the path that decides your career. In my perspective earning lot of money will lead you no where besides in then end of your life when you will be lying on your bed diseased you will feel regret that you might have perceived what did you like.

gear up Pursue what you like not what will earn you more money

Public Sector Enterprises

The Indian public sector enterprises have been playing the legendary role in the country's industrialization and development of the national economy for over a period of 50 years, since independence. The first public sector undertaking was the railways. Following independence the sovereign government undertook setting up of a strong national economic infrastructure. The iron & steel industries, power generation, mining and oil refining activities, were focused at this stage. Initially they focused on post and telegraph, the port trusts, salt factories, ordnance and aircraft factories, quinine factories, etc. later the government undertook development of the major infrastructure activities,
